Hubble Telescope Observes Early Galaxy's Role in Cosmic Reionization

Using the Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers have detected ultraviolet light from a galaxy that existed early in the universe's history. This galaxy's young stars emitted ionizing light, which cleared surrounding neutral gas. This observation offers the first direct evidence of how such galaxies contributed to the universe's reionization period.
