Lucy mission reveals asteroid Donaldjohanson's complex rotation and water traces
NASA's Lucy spacecraft has discovered that asteroid Donaldjohanson is a peanut-shaped object with a complex, wobbling rotation. The asteroid, believed to have formed from a violent collision, rotates end-over-end every 10.5 days and rocks back and forth every 26.5 days. Traces of ancient water were also found, providing new clues about the early solar system's composition and dynamics.
