New Interpretation Proposed for Long-Duration Gamma-Ray Bursts

Scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory have presented a revised understanding of long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Their research suggests that two recent GRBs, initially attributed to merging neutron stars, are more consistent with the nucleosynthesis processes of a collapsar. This new interpretation, published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, deepens our knowledge of these powerful cosmic phenomena.
