Global Horizon Scan Identifies Emerging Innovations in Movement Ecology

A global horizon scan for movement ecology has identified key innovations expected to shape the field over the next two decades. These include engineering breakthroughs in miniature tags with enhanced sensing and non-invasive attachment, advanced analytical methods for predicting movement trajectories, and coordinated efforts to scale data and collaborative infrastructure. This significant roadmap for future research in how and why animals move within their environments was presented as supplementary material for a journal contribution in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.
