Deep-Sea Expedition Uncovers Dozens of New Marine Species with Advanced Microscopy

An international team has identified 31 previously unknown marine species during a recent deep-sea exploration off the coast of Brazil. This rapid discovery was facilitated by innovative technology, including a new open-source confocal microscope, which allowed for unprecedented 3D imaging of living cellular structures in deep-sea organisms.
