Artemis III Orion Crew Module Heat Shield Installed at Kennedy Space Center

Technicians at NASA's Kennedy Space Center have successfully attached the heat shield to the Orion crew module for the Artemis III mission. The heat shield, made of 186 Avcoat blocks, underwent thorough inspection and incorporates design enhancements. These upgrades were implemented following analysis of unexpected behavior observed on the Artemis I heat shield, aiming for improved uniformity and permeability.
