JWST Identifies New Giant Exoplanet in Beta Pictoris System

The James Webb Space Telescope has detected a previously unobserved giant exoplanet, Beta Pictoris d, within the Beta Pictoris system. This discovery was made by analyzing the planet's atmospheric chemical signature rather than direct imaging. It marks the Beta Pictoris system as only the second known to contain at least three directly imaged planets, advancing our understanding of planetary formation.
