Astronomers Identify Four New White Dwarf Stars in Nearby Binary Systems

Using data from the Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers have confirmed the presence of four previously undetected white dwarf stars within binary systems close to Earth. These stellar remnants, all within 65 light-years, were revealed through specialized calibration methods that isolated their signals from red dwarf flares. One of the discoveries is now the ninth closest known white dwarf to our Sun.
