US Funds Alaska Initiative for Domestic Critical Mineral Supply

The National Science Foundation has allocated funding to a new Regional Innovation Engine in Alaska, led by the University of Alaska Fairbanks. This program aims to decrease the nation's reliance on foreign critical minerals by developing advanced mining and processing technologies, including AI and biological extraction methods. It is one of 12 such engines established across the country to bolster national security and technological independence.
