NASA Races to Save Aging Swift Telescope from Fiery Reentry

NASA and Katalyst Space Technologies are actively working to prevent the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory from reentering Earth's atmosphere. A robotic spacecraft named LINK, launched on July 3, is on track to capture the 21-year-old telescope and boost it into a higher, safer orbit. This mission aims to extend the life of the valuable quarter-billion-dollar telescope with a $30 million rescue contract.
