Hubble Captures Image of Asymmetric Spiral Galaxy NGC 4654

The Hubble Space Telescope has imaged NGC 4654, an intermediate spiral galaxy within the Virgo Cluster, revealing its distinct asymmetric structure. One side of the galaxy appears rounded, while the other features a long gaseous tail. Scientists attribute this unusual shape to ram pressure stripping as it moves through the intracluster medium, alongside a past gravitational interaction with another galaxy.
