Japan Confirms Significant Rare Earth Deposits in Deep-Sea Mud

The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology has verified the presence of valuable rare earth elements, such as yttrium and dysprosium, in deep-sea mud near Minamitorishima island. This confirmation could substantially decrease Japan's dependence on external sources for these critical materials. A comprehensive mining trial is scheduled for early 2027 to explore extraction feasibility.
