Chinese Scientists Unveil Programmable Plant Immunity Using AI for On-Demand Receptor Design

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have achieved a breakthrough in plant immune engineering by proposing a novel concept of programmable plant synthetic immunity. Leveraging AI protein design technology, the team designed high-affinity binding proteins to target pathogen proteins, enabling the construction of entirely new synthetic immune receptors. This platform offers a universal technical pathway for developing durable and broad-spectrum crop resistance.
