Hubble Space Telescope Directly Detects Four Previously Hidden White Dwarfs

Astronomers, utilizing ultraviolet observations from the Hubble Space Telescope, have directly detected four white dwarfs previously concealed by the brighter glow of their companion red dwarf stars. These stellar remnants, located within 65 light-years of Earth, refine estimates of the local white dwarf population and offer new insights into binary star evolution.
