Hubble Telescope Directly Observes Four Previously Undetected White Dwarfs

The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has directly identified four white dwarfs orbiting nearby red dwarf stars, a significant achievement given their previous concealment by brighter companions. Located within 65 light-years, these stellar remnants were observed using Hubble's ultraviolet capabilities, allowing astronomers to measure their temperatures between 5,300 and 6,300 Kelvin. This discovery offers new insights into the evolution of compact binary star systems.
