ESO Telescope Provides Strongest Evidence for Betelgeuse Companion Star

Astronomers using the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT) have captured the clearest image to date of what is believed to be Betelgeuse B, a companion star orbiting the red supergiant Betelgeuse. This observation, made in December 2024, offers compelling evidence for the long-suspected star, which could help explain Betelgeuse's unusual brightness variations.
