CERN Achieves First Controlled, Reversible Transport of Antimatter

Scientists at CERN's BASE-STEP project have successfully transported 92 antiprotons on a six-mile loop around the lab's campus and plugged them back into their experiment, marking the first controlled and reversible transport of antimatter. This achievement, which occurred on March 24, 2026, and was reported today, is a crucial step towards delivering antiprotons to precision labs far from the accelerator's magnetic interference, with future plans including a 430-mile run into Germany.
