Novel Genetic Locus Discovered on Fruit Fly Y Chromosome

A novel 'crystal/Su(Ste)' locus has been identified on the Y chromosome of *Drosophila melanogaster*. This newly found genetic region resembles a piRNA cluster, indicating a potential role in regulating Stellate repeats and transposons.
