UC Santa Barbara Receives $20 Million NSF Grant for Cloud Materials Lab

The National Science Foundation has awarded UC Santa Barbara $20 million to establish the Computation-Optimized Automated Soft Materials Technology Programmable Cloud Laboratory (COAST PCL). This national cloud laboratory will integrate robotics, AI, and advanced instruments to automate and enable remote experimentation in materials research. It aims to broaden access and transform experimental design for future scientists and engineers.
