ESA's HydroGNSS Mission Releases First Openly Available Data to Researchers Worldwide

The European Space Agency's (ESA) HydroGNSS mission has made its initial datasets openly available to researchers globally, marking a transition from commissioning to scientific discovery. The twin satellites utilize reflected GPS and Galileo navigation signals to observe Earth's water, offering unique insights into soil moisture, flooding, wetlands, freeze-thaw conditions, and above-ground biomass. This data is expected to enhance flood prediction, agricultural planning, and climate research, particularly in identifying wetlands hidden beneath dense vegetation.
