Texas A&M to Establish First National Self-Driving Laboratory for Metals with $24.9 Million NSF Grant

Texas A&M University will host the Autonomous Robotic Metallurgist Materials Innovation Platform (ARM-MIP), a new national user facility funded by a six-year, $24.9 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). This laboratory will utilize robots and artificial intelligence to automate alloy discovery, allowing scientists to focus on research and accelerate the development of new materials. The facility is designed to serve over 200 users annually and aims to process more than 200 alloys per month by its sixth year of operation.
