NASA Langley Inaugurates New Flight Dynamics Research Facility
NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton has launched its first major wind tunnel in over 40 years, the $57-million Flight Dynamics Research Facility (FDRF). This new facility replaces and combines the capabilities of two older wind tunnels, offering nearly twice the wind speeds and five times the horsepower. It will support research on vehicles moving through Earth's atmosphere and space, with initial projects including the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing aircraft design.
