MIT and Harvard Researchers Develop Single-Laser Superresolution Microscopy Technique

Researchers from MIT and Harvard have developed a groundbreaking superresolution imaging technology called upconversion-enabled stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (U-STORM). This platform allows for the precise visualization of molecular structures in subatomic detail, achieving approximately 1000 times clearer images than traditional dyes, while significantly simplifying the imaging process. The technique relies on meticulously controlling upconverting nanoparticles that blink spontaneously and indefinitely, a property previously thought unsuitable for this type of imaging.
