MIT Develops 3D Printing for Objects with Mechanically Changing Surfaces

MIT researchers have developed a new 3D printing system, 'ShiftLens,' enabling the creation of interactive objects with surfaces that mechanically change appearance based on user interaction, without requiring internal electronics. This technology could enhance safety, for example, by allowing chemical bottles to visually indicate if their lids are unsecured, opening new avenues for passive smart objects.
