University of Nevada, Reno Receives NSF Grant for Agricultural Robotics Research

Assistant Professor Parikshit Maini at the University of Nevada, Reno, secured a five-year, $618,201 National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award. The grant will fund the development of coordinated robotic systems, combining aerial drones and ground rovers, for precision agriculture, especially in arid regions. This innovation addresses drone flight time limitations by enabling mobile recharging via ground vehicles. The algorithmic advancements are also expected to benefit national defense, infrastructure inspection, and space exploration.
