Scientists Unveil Over 600 New Tissue Models of Human Cancer to Aid Drug Development

An international team, led by researchers at MIT, has developed nearly 700 new cancer models derived from patient tumors. These 3D cell cultures, or organoids, accurately represent the genetic and molecular features of 25 different cancer types and are now available to researchers worldwide. This 10-year initiative, funded by the National Cancer Institute, aims to expand experimental systems for validating cancer targets and accelerating drug discovery.
