MIT Study Finds Electric Cars Significantly Reduce CO2 Emissions Over Lifetime

A comprehensive study from MIT has concluded that electric cars consistently generate less CO2 than their gasoline counterparts throughout their entire lifespan. The research, which analyzed data from every U.S. postal code, considered variables such as local climate, electricity generation mix, traffic congestion, and driving patterns. The findings indicate that electric vehicles cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40% to 60% on average, with the greatest reductions in regions with cleaner electricity and higher traffic density.
