Research team upcycles plastic waste into premium high-performance lubricants

A multidisciplinary team of researchers from Texas A&M University, Virginia Tech, and the California Institute of Technology has developed a new method to convert polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic waste into high-performance polyalphaolefin lubricants. This discovery could address plastic waste challenges and improve the efficiency and sustainability of mechanical systems worldwide. The work was recently published in Nature.
