ESA and European Commission Advance IRIS² Satellite Constellation with Expanded Deployment

The European Commission and the SpaceRISE consortium have signed an implementation agreement to accelerate the rollout of IRIS², the European Union's new flagship satellite constellation. The agreement adds 66 satellites to the program, bringing the main constellation to 348 satellites, and moves it from planning to full-scale deployment with ESA's support. ESA will oversee the constellation's development, qualification, and in-orbit validation to strengthen Europe's strategic autonomy and competitiveness.
