IRIS² reinforced and accelerated as implementation advances
The European Commission and the SpaceRISE consortium have finalized an implementation agreement to deploy IRIS², the European Union's new flagship satellite constellation. This agreement significantly expands the program by adding 66 satellites, bringing the main constellation to 348, and transitions it from planning to full-scale deployment with the support of the European Space Agency (ESA). This reinforcement is projected to boost secure governmental connectivity capacity by 60% within the EU and 54% globally.
