Research Constrains Size of Asteroid Parent Bodies for Common Meteorites

A new preprint provides observational evidence linking the size and composition of S-complex near-Earth objects, which are the source of ordinary chondrites. The study sets an upper size limit of about 18 meters for the pre-atmospheric parent bodies of H and LL chondrites, helping to resolve a long-standing discrepancy in meteorite prevalence.
