Europe's IRIS2 Satellite Constellation Expanded with Increased Investment

The European Commission, ESA, and SpaceRISE consortium have finalized an agreement to expand the IRIS2 secure communications constellation to 348 satellites. This expansion, backed by over €15.6 billion, includes 66 additional satellites for defense and emergency services, aiming to provide Europe with sovereign communication capabilities, with initial launches expected in 2029.
