Pluto's 'Heart' May Be Leaking Liquid Nitrogen onto its Surface

New scientific interpretations of data from NASA's New Horizons mission suggest that Pluto's iconic heart-shaped region, Sputnik Planitia, may be slowly releasing liquid nitrogen onto its surface. Computer simulations indicate that nitrogen ice at the base of the thick glacier could melt into liquid, rising through cracks similar to slow-motion lava on Earth.
