NOIRLab Unveils Expansive 2D Map of the Universe

The DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys team, supported by NSF NOIRLab, has released the largest 2D map of the Universe to date. This map catalogs nearly four billion celestial objects across 75% of the sky, serving as a foundational reference for future astronomical research. The publicly available dataset will aid in studying dark matter, dark energy, and training AI for astronomical data analysis.
