JWST Reveals Neptune's Inner Moons May Be Wreckage of Ancient Catastrophe

Researchers detected clay-like minerals on Larissa, Galatea, and Neptune's rings, which typically form in the presence of liquid water, despite no obvious water ice on the moons themselves. This finding supports the theory that the material originated from larger icy moons shattered during Triton's capture by Neptune.
