NASA Plans New Lunar Orbiter as Part of Commercial Lunar Payload Services Program

NASA intends to issue three additional lunar mission task orders in 2026 through its Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. One of these will include an orbiter designed to map the Moon and eventually succeed the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). This initiative aims to expand lunar exploration capabilities and leverage commercial partnerships for future missions.
