JWST Observations Place Strict Limits on Helium Absorption in Exoplanet LHS 1140 b's Atmosphere (Preprint)
New research, presented in two preprints on arXiv, reports that observations from the James Webb Space Telescope's (JWST) NIRISS/SOSS instrument have detected no helium in the atmosphere of the exoplanet LHS 1140 b. These findings, based on four transits, provide strict limits on helium absorption and contribute significantly to understanding the atmospheric compositions of exoplanets. This work is preliminary and has not yet been peer-reviewed.
