A study published in *Nature Human Behaviour* by researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) reveals that generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, while preserving content, significantly dilute unique writing styles. Analyzing over 880,000 cases, including Reddit posts and arXiv abstracts, the research found a 21-50% reduction in writing complexity variability, which could impact methods used to infer personality or mental states from text and potentially affect privacy.
