Study Connects Major Polluters' Emissions to California Water Crisis

A new peer-reviewed study in Nature's Communications Earth and Environment links emissions from 122 'Carbon Majors' to nearly 50% of climate change-driven impacts on California's water crisis since 1950. Conducted by UCS and UC Merced, this research is the first to quantify this specific connection between major fossil fuel and cement producers and regional water scarcity. It highlights the significant role of industrial emissions in exacerbating environmental challenges.
