New Research Proposes Single Asteroid Collision Shaped Mars' Moon Deimos

An international team, led by the University of Bern and using ESA Hera spacecraft images, suggests a single asteroid impact could explain Deimos' large southern depression and smooth, dusty surface. This study is the first scientific analysis incorporating Hera's recent flyby observations of Mars' smaller moon.
