MIT Engineers Create 3D-Printed Shape-Changing Smart Devices

MIT researchers have engineered a system utilizing 3D-printed mechanical metamaterial building blocks, called 'bifur-circuits,' to construct shape-changing smart devices. These interactive blocks can be assembled into reconfigurable structures, such as furniture that transforms, and possess the ability to sense their own configuration, opening new avenues for applications in robotic grippers and assistive technologies.
