New OCT Probe Enhances Intravascular Brain Imaging
Researchers developed a tiny optical coherence tomography (OCT) probe, 0.55 mm in diameter, for imaging inside brain blood vessels. This probe can navigate complex cerebrovascular models and acquire 360° images. This advancement overcomes limitations of existing OCT systems, which struggled with small, tortuous brain arteries. The technology could significantly improve doctors' ability to visualize microscopic details directly within small brain arteries, aiding diagnosis and treatment.
