Novel Solution-Based Process Developed for Direct Recycling of Spent EV Batteries
Researchers at the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) have developed an innovative solution-based process for directly recycling spent electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This environmentally friendly approach enables the regeneration of cathode materials without dissolving the active material, significantly reducing wastewater pollution and energy consumption. The process achieved a 99.1% capacity recovery for regenerated NCM cathode material and demonstrated potential for actual EV battery recycling.
