AI Generates Novel Viruses with Potential for Medical Breakthroughs

Researchers have demonstrated that artificial intelligence can design bacteriophages, viruses that target bacteria, which do not exist in nature. Sixteen of these AI-generated phages successfully inhibited the growth of E. coli, including antibiotic-resistant strains, suggesting a new avenue for treating infections.
