NASA Launches Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to Explore Dark Energy, Dark Matter, and Exoplanets

NASA's next flagship astronomical observatory, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center on August 30, 2026. The telescope is designed to investigate cosmic enigmas such as dark energy and dark matter, test gravity at vast scales, and search for exoplanets. It will travel to Lagrange Point 2, about a million miles from Earth, and is expected to provide a wide field of view, surveying the sky much faster than Hubble and James Webb.
