LUX-ZEPLIN Experiment Reports "Compelling Hint of Dark Matter" (Preliminary Finding)

The LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment, an underground dark matter detector in South Dakota, has reported its most compelling hint of dark matter to date, observing a single particle interaction difficult to explain with known background signals. While not yet meeting the statistical threshold for a discovery, these preliminary results were presented at the 2026 TeV Particle Astrophysics conference and the associated paper is slated for release on arXiv and submission to Physical Review Letters.
