ESO's MOONS Instrument Begins Operations at Very Large Telescope

The Multi-Object Optical and Near-infrared Spectrograph (MOONS) at ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile has successfully achieved 'First Light.' This new instrument can simultaneously study 1000 objects in red and infrared light, enabling astronomers to observe through cosmic dust into the Milky Way's heart and investigate the formation and evolution of distant galaxies across 13 billion years.
