Comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment Reveals True CO2 Emissions of European Passenger Car Fleet

A new study in the Journal of Cleaner Production presents a comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) CO2 emission inventory for the passenger car fleet in EU-27 countries, including future trends. The research highlights that focusing solely on "Tank-to-Wheel" emissions is insufficient and that electrification can lead to true net-zero CO2 results when assessed with an LCA-equivalent method, considering upstream and end-of-life emissions.
