Study Highlights Critical Interdependence of Reef and Mangrove Ecosystems Through Indigenous Knowledge

A scientific collaboration involving Australian scientists and First Nations Bardi Jawi rangers and elders has revealed the critical reliance of culturally important fish species on the connectivity between reef and mangrove ecosystems. The study, published in Ocean & Coastal Management, found that these fish species migrate between the two environments more frequently than other species.
