Extreme El Niño Climate Phase Intensifies in the Pacific, Warns NOAA

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center has issued a formal El Niño Advisory, indicating that the warming trend in the tropical Pacific is accelerating faster than typical seasonal cycles. Forecasters now estimate a greater than 90% chance of a very strong El Niño event, with a 69% chance it could reach historic levels, rivaling the strongest events recorded since 1950.
